Many working families below the federal poverty line do not qualify for Medicaid, a problem that will worsen in states that plan to reject federally-funded Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.  In Florida, families earning more than $11,000 a year are already ineligible, as are families making over $5,000 in Louisiana and Texas. Many governors reject Medicaid expansion because they claim it’s too costly for their already-strapped budgets.  Photo credit:  Associated Press
